We received a cool Video Voicemail from Georgia Ward, who had some really great questions about What Now:

How do you get all the sound effects, and can you hear them in the studio?
We have a special machine called a 'Hotkey', which is jam-packed full of sound effects. It has about 20 buttons, and each one has a sound effect on it (and we can change the buttons to different sounds). We have a person who sits and watches the show, and when they hit one of the buttons, the sound comes out! Everybody in the studio can hear the noises through speakers that hang over the top of the audience. Charlie and Serena actually wear tiny earpieces in one ear, so they can hear all the sound from the show.

Are there screens to watch in the studio?
Yes, we have seven fantastic Panasonic plasma screens, spread around the studio and the Game Zone. The biggest one is so heavy, it took four people to put it on the wall!

Where do you get all the ideas for games?
During the week, the whole What Now team (including all the behind-the-scenes staff) talk about ideas for the show, and we'll all discuss ideas for games. Games are the hardest things to make, because you have to decide the rules, how many players are required, how to win, etc. We'll often play the games ourselves first, and improve the game based on what people think of it.
