Christmas Wishes

So it is our last live show for the year this sunday and we want you to tell us your christmas wish. It can be anything, I cool toy... maybe you wish for world peace. Whatever it is, we want to know. Just reply to this blog :)

LEO the Kitty CAT

Hey guys,

Leo my cat will be on the show this week so watch out for him to see how big he has got!

He's very cute, and I've been trying to teach him commands like "Sit" and "Beg" by giving him treats but the only command he has master is "Here Kitty" and only if I shake his cat biscuits!

He's really mischievious, loves eating bread when I'm not looking and likes licking my face - cute but gross!

Vanilla Sponge Cake Recipe

This week, the talented taste-experts from Divine Cakes are joining us in-studio to create some scary Halloween cupcakes! Here's the recipe so you can bake up some magic at home:

Vanilla Sponge Cake Recipe

Ingredients
4 eggs175 gm (6 oz) caster sugar flavoured
1/2 tsp Vanilla Essence175 gm (6 oz) plain flour50 gm (2 oz) unsalted butter, melted

Preparation
Halloween cupcakesPreheat the oven to 140 degrees Celsius. Whisk the eggs and sugar together in a bowl over a pan of hot water. Continue to whisk until the mixture has doubled in volume and is light and creamy. Remove from the heat and continue to whisk until cold and thick. Lightly fold in the flour, melted butter and vanilla essence. Gently pour the mix into the cupcake foils and put in the pre-heated oven for about 25 minutes. The easiest way to test is with a skewer, which will come out clean when the sponge is ready. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.

BUTTER ICING
250 grams of icing sugar
50 grams of softened/melted butter
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence
3 tablespoons of hot water

This week on What Now...

This week on What Now, Tumehe gets to chat to All Black Richie McCaw... not about rugby, but Richie's other love: Gliding!
It's Push Play week, so Charlie and Serena are getting up and active. We want to hear about what Push Play activities you get up to, so email or call during Sunday's show and you could be a winner.
Tumehe is in Omarama, so if you're in the area make sure you come down and say hi. You might get the chance to play 'Gunge on the Run' and get your team on the leaderboard.
Tune into What Now this Sunday morning, from 8am on TV2. We'd love to see you!

Last week on What Now

Last week we saw that New Zealanders DO have talent... Including hip-hop dancers, an Irish dancer, a troupe of ballet performers, and the awesome YoYo stylings of Tom Zhang!

The Southern Ballet Theatre company came in to perform a dance from 'Halloween: Dare To Look Behind the Curtain'. They were amazing, so if you're in Christchurch then head along to see the show. Click here for all the information on where to see it.

Spyrider's trip to Geraldine

Here are some of the awesome shots from Spyrider's trip to Geraldine in the weekend. Obviously there is our energetic presenter Tumehe, but also seen in the pics are teamsters TV Tim, Beth, Emma, and the wonderful children we met!

If you're wondering why a calf is in the raft, here's the behind-the-scenes story: When Tu and the team were filming a story on white water rafting, they saw a calf fall off a ledge and become trapped in the river! So they pulled it up into the raft, and delivered it safely to land. What a heroic act!

Drama at the What Now rehearsal!

On Friday, the whole What Now team gets together at our studios to rehearse the upcoming show. But last Friday we found ourselves all outside, across the road from the studio, due to the FIRE ALARM having gone off!

At first we thought it was our fault, because there are a few smoke machines on the What Now set to give our lights a funky look. But thankfully, it wasn't us... Instead it was some repairmen in another part of the building.

But it was fun to get outside for some fresh air, and to see the four fire engines that turned up! Imagine if it had gone off during the LIVE show... Let's hope that never happens!!
